Fanny M. Cornejo is a Peruvian biologist with a postgraduate degree in anthropology and more than 16 years of experience in research and conservation of endangered fauna in Peru, with an emphasis on the Tropical Andes. She is cofounder, alongside her mother, and current executive director of Yunkawasi, where she focuses on biological and social research, conservation education programs and sustainable development in local communities. In 2019 she contributed in the launch of a 1 Peruvian Sol coin inspired by the yellow-tailed woolly monkey, with the coin based on one of her photographs of this species.
The tagline of Yunkawasi is Acho’rate’, and they model the meaning of Stand up, Do something that all these women are enacting in partnerships for primates seen in this 4-week series for the "month of love." Thank you for reading, and for doing what you can with whatever you have to give something of value to this planet for the miracle of our own brief lives.
