Prof. Anna Nekaris, since 1994, has studied all eleven species of loris, including five she named or elevated from subspecies, contributing new data on diet, habitat use, social organization and population status. This charismatic primate is one of the only mammals that produces venom, though little is yet known about this unique trait.

The main field effort for her Little Fireface Project occurs on the Indonesian island of Java, where the first-ever long-term loris study in the wild covers the Javan slow loris. Find out more about the work of Nekaris and her many colleagues here--https://www.nocturama.org/en/welcome-little-fireface-project/
